Hi Friends!
Today is May 13, 2025, and I would consider my blog to be one month old today! Woot!
Exactly one month ago was when I started to really become consistent and serious about posting consistent content and posting on Pinterest daily.
Today I want to share with you alllll the things I’m learning and how things are going. I don’t really have anyone to talk to in my life who really cares about the nitty gritty of blogging, so I thought it would be a good idea to get it all out of my head and helpful to someone to read my experience!
Before we jump in… I just want to say, every blog takes time to grow and get traction. I think this is something we all know as new bloggers, but it is still so easy to get discouraged. I have to tell myself this almost every day!
A little bit ago, I was reading some other One Month Blog Reports from other bloggers that I randomly found through Pinterest and wow, I was comparing myself so hard and felt so discouraged that my blog wasn’t taking off like theirs did! Some of these other bloggers had over 1,000 sessions in one month! For me, that is not the case. 🙂
Hopefully my blog can be an encouragement to you that it is normal to not have much traffic in the first month. In fact, it usually takes about 90 days (OR MORE) for Pinterest and Google to start giving your content more chances for views.
Here is what I’m going to discuss in this blog:
- My Goals + What I’m focusing on
- Blogging
- Weekly Routine
- My Analytics
- What I Learned
- What I’m Focusing On Next
Let’s get into it!
My Goals + What I’m Focusing On in My First Month of Blogging
In order for me to take action on something, I need to have a plan or a routine to get myself started. This is exactly what I did for my blog when I first started being consistent a month ago.
Before we get into that, let me first explain why I wanted to start a blog and my long term goal.
I have wanted to start a blog for years! But just haven’t had the capacity or motivation to finally do it. There were many times I sat down and started to get a site set up, but I would quickly get overwhelmed or feel imposter system (this still happens, haha).
The main reasons I want to start a blog is to help people, create a community, and (hopefully) contribute financially to my family.
Right now, I work part-time in Marketing and am a full-time mom to a 19 month old. I am so thankful that my part time job is flexible so I can be with my daughter most days of the week. (Other days, she is with my Mother In Law or Husband!)
However, my real long term goal is to be making at least some money by the time I have a second baby so I can stay home full time without working my part time job. I am not pregnant yet, but I am hoping to become pregnant in the next few months or so. So, this gives me about a year from now (give or take) to start making some money from this thing. I think I can do it, but I just need to stay consistent and not lose heart.
Short Term Goals + Weekly Routine
This brings me to my short term goals and what I am focusing on week to week.
Because my blog is so new, I really wasn’t expecting to get any traffic or following my first month. (Unfortunately, my expectations were correct 😂)
So, I decided to make my short term goals and weekly routine really focused on:
- Writing Blog Posts
- Pinning consistently on Pinterest
These two things took up the bulk of my time this month, which really wasn’t that much time. I probably spent about 5-10 hours a week on my blog. Maybe that is why I didn’t get many page views, but this was the capacity I could give consistently starting out.
Writing Blog Posts
My goal each week for writing blog posts was to write one solid blog post per week. If I was able to do two, great. But my focus was just to get one solid blog post out to start.
I am happy to say I met this goal! I published 5 blog posts in the last month (there was one week I got 2 done).
I am going to continue with this metric for my second and third month, unless I really can find the time to do more, but I’m assuming one will be about what I can do with summer vacations and things!
Every blogger knows — YOU HAVE TO BE ON PINTEREST. Pinterest is the place you are most likely to get consistent traffic. It is soooo hard to rank on Google these days, so I’m not even thinking about Google right now. I am trying to have my post be somewhat SEO focused, but my main goal is to get traffic from Pinterest.
So, what am I doing? My goal this month was to post one fresh pin every day. A fresh pin is basically just a brand new graphic or picture that you post on Pinterest. It is essential to be consistent on Pinterest — it favors consistent, good quality pins.
I am also happy to say I met this goal too! I successfully posted a fresh pin every day using the scheduler in Pinterest itself.
Again, it takes weeks or months for most pins to start getting traffic on Pinterest, so I am not expecting anything to be super viral yet. But I was fairly happy with my Impressions this month for just starting out.
Also, I have of course heard of Tailwind and I am interested in creating an account. In fact, I almost did a few weeks ago. However, I do not have the budget to pay $200 for Tailwind right now. I would love to get it, but I think I will be more convinced and willing to invest once I get a few more page views and sessions.
Weekly Routine
I knew I needed some sort of routine if I was going to actually put the time and effort into my blog. So here is what I originally drafted up for my weekly routine:
- Monday: Create 5-10 Fresh Pins
- Tuesday: Write a blog post
- Wednesday: Website Maintenance and Updates
- Thursday: Email List
- Friday: Catch Up
You might notice I have email list on Thursdays. I did set up an account through Mailchimp and get it hooked up to my site with different places to sign up, but I haven’t focused on this yet because I have hardly had any traffic. I am hoping to focus on that in the next couple months more.
Analytics
So finally, let me show you the numbers!
Pinterest Analytics
On Pinterest, here are my stats for the month.

As you can see, my stats are 597 impressions, 5 engagements, 0 Outbound Clicks 1 save, 41 total audience, and 2 engaged audience.
Obviously, I would love to see my Engagements, Outbound Clicks, and Saves go up. Because if I don’t have hardly any engagements and zero outbound clicks, then this means I don’t have anyone actually going to my blog yet.
However, I am quite happy with my Impressions for this being my first month and only posting one pin each day. ChatGPT told me these are normal analytics for a Pinterest account that is just starting out, lol. So I am taking this as a win for now!
Google Analytics
Here are my Google Analytics for the past month:

Guys, let me be honest. Google Analytics is soooo confusing to me 😂 Past this little snapshot, I am not quite sure what all the other metrics mean. But, I feel like these are the metrics I want to pay attention to right now. Maybe this will change as I continue to learn.
So for the entire last month, I had a total of 32 sessions. I’ll say it, that isn’t great haha. But, it’s more than zero! (Trying to be positive).
I have no idea where these sessions came from. They did not come from Pinterest and I doubt my blog is really ranking, so I have no clue. But I’ll take it!
I am slightly concerned that all these sessions are from me. I tried to exclude my IP address from my Google Analytics but I’m not sure if it’s working. I should probably look into that more.
What I Learned
Guys, there are so many aspects of blogging. I knew this coming in, but wow it feels like there is so much to do! I have learned so much this month and have really enjoyed the creative process of blogging.
Some random things I learned this month:
Sign Up For Both Google Analytics and Google Search Console
I didn’t even know Google Search Console was a thing! Basically, signing up for Google Search Console allows Google to index your blog and start to add it to their system to rank on Google. I thought this just happened automatically by creating a website and being on Google Analytics!
Optimize Your Whole Pinterest Account With SEO Keywords
I am no expert when it comes to SEO, but I am trying to learn! Basically, every part of your Pinterest account needs to have SEO in it. Your account bio, your board descriptions, your pin descriptions & titles, literally anywhere you can type words you should have SEO in mind.
Like I said, I am still learning so I doubt my account is top notch.
You need legal pages for your website
This is something I still need to do. But you should have a privacy policy, disclaimers, and terms and conditions on your website. This stuff overwhelms me, so I have been putting it off, especially since I have no traffic. But I am planning to get some sort of legal templates or something, especially because I am collecting emails and hoping to have affiliate links in the future.
I have learned so much more, but these are the things that stood out to me as I’m writing this!
What I Am Focusing On Next
I am planning to keep the same thing going with my Pinterest “strategy” and writing one blog post per week. I would love to get some extra blog posts done to have maybe two a week or possibly schedule them in advance so I’m not rushing each week to get one done. But my short term goals are staying the same for now.
Once I get a few more blog posts published, I would love to up my Pinterest pins. I think it would be ideal if I could post 3-5 pins per day, but this seems intimidating to me without Tailwind and not that many blog posts yet to make pins for. But, I do think this would pay off and help me gain for traffic.
Email List
I really want to start prioritizing my email list as well. Bloggers always say that growing your email list is essential to creating a true audience and community. So, there are a few things I want to accomplish in the next couple months in this category:
- Create a freebie or two
- Have a pop-up opt-in form
- Create a 3 email welcome sequence to new subscribers
- Start a weekly newsletter (once I start getting some subscribers)
I have a few concepts in mind for my freebies, but I just need to take the time to write them out and design them in Canva.
Redesigning My Homepage
I recently was listening to a podcast, and one thing she mentioned was having a homepage that offers value to your readers so they can know what your blog is about. She said it is not the best strategy to just have a list of your blog posts on your home page, and that is exactly what mine is right now, lol.
So, I am going to work on restructuring it to give more information of what my blog is about and have a spot to offer my freebies.
Monetization
Obviously I need more sessions and pageviews to start monetizing, but I have a few things I want to get started with once that happens.
- Create an eBook or Mini Course
- Get 1,000 Sessions so I can start putting ads on my site with Journey by Mediavine
- Sign up for Amazon Affiliates and other appropriate affiliates that will accept me
Like I said, I need to get more pageviews before I can really put these things in action. But I am feeling like if I stick to my consistency, this could happen for me in the coming months. (Hopefully by the end of the year)
Photography
Not sure if I will actually get around to this, but I would love to have more pictures on my blog that are my own. right now, I use mostly stock photos from Pexels. This is working for me so far, but I think it would enhance my readers’ experience and have more authenticity on my blog if I had my own photos.
Thanks for reading! I feel like there is so much I could say about blogging and my experience so far. If you are just starting out blogging, we are in this together! I do believe it is possible for us to start blogs that help people and create some financial peace for our families.
